Reiterating his vision to transform Telangana into a cultural hub and create space for the Telugu film industry to thrive, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday underlined the importance of taking Telugu cinema to the global stage.

“Hyderabad is potentially the best place in the country to promote cinema, more than even Mumbai. The Telangana government will work to promote Telugu cinema in a way that people from all regions in the country will have exposure to Telugu cinema. There will be an opportunity for all films to blossom in the state,” said KCR at the audio launch of veteran actress Jayasudha’s son Shreyan Kapoor’s Basti.

Incidentally, this is the first time Rao has attended an audio launch of any film. The CM assured Tollywood that he would listen to all the issues which the film industry is currently facing and promised to make Hyderabad a favourable destination for cinema.

“As soon as possible, most probably in two-three days, I will meet with all the bigwigs from the Telugu film industry and discuss the issues at hand. I have also discussed with Chiranjeevi about developing the industry and we are also considering building Filmnagar 2 in Hyderabad,” announced Rao. The TS CM also asserted that apart from aspiring artistes and directors, the Telangana government would also encourage and support junior artistes and technicians. Basti will launch Jayasudha’s son Shreyan Kapoor into the industry and is being made under the direction of Vasu Mantena.

Heaping praises on the actor, KCR said he would be the Amitabh Bachchan of the south, and hoped Basti will renew his interest in films. Produced by Vasu Mantena, Basti also features actress Pragathi Chaurasiya in the lead.

It's all official. Producer and director of Multidimension Entertainments' P Rammohan Rao has been elected as the president of Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce (TSFCC). Mr Ram Mohan Rao is the first person to achieve this feat.

Although initially, producer Dil Raju was supposed to take over the reigns of TSFC, he later dropped his plans as the election wasn't becoming unanimous. Dil Raju had given his nod only after much pursuit and promise of unanimous election. But Dil Raju received a shocker in form of Ram Mohan Rao as his nomination was also pitted for TSFCC. With this Dil Raju got miffed and decided to withdrew from election, Ram Mohan Rao's victory became unanimous, came walk. Raju is now focusing much on his film production, distribution work.

The Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce (APFCC) has been referred as Producer Council and is currently dealing with several issues of producers including title registration, misuse of their titles, print, television and web advertisement costs. It plays vital role in resolving several issues like theatres' problem, finance problems etc.

SS Rajamouli's magnum opus movie "Bahaubali" has ran into trouble again.

Three days before the official launch, the songs of the upcoming movie have been leaked online and the link for the download has gone viral on Internet and social media, according to reports.

Officials are yet to identify the culprits behind the leak. Some sources claim that an unidentified group had leaked the songs as well as the download link on Whats App and Twitter, and the news went viral within seconds.

Audio launch Date

This has come as come as a blow to the makers of the movie who have planned a grand audio launch on 13 June at Sri Venkateswara University grounds, Tirupati.

Reports had said over 50,000 fans and many celebs from Bollywood and regional cinema will attend the event.

The team had earlier planned to have the audio launch on 31 May in Hyderabad but cancelled it due to security reasons.

The hype around the audio launch has been too high, especially after the trailer launch. The background score composed by MM Keeravani got great reviews for its global appeal. The lyrics for the Tamil version have been penned by Madhan Karky.

"Baahubali" has nine songs and each one stands out in its composition.

The music rights of "Baahubali' have been acquired by Bengaluru-based music company Lahari Audio for a whooping ₹3 crore, the highest for any Tamil or Telugu movie.

The star cast of "Baahubali" includes Prabhas as Baahubali, Rana Daggubati as Bhalladeva, Tamanna as Avanthika, Sudeep as Aslam Khan, Sathyaraj as Kattappa, Nasser as Pingalathevan, Prabhakar as Kalakkeya, Ramya Krishna as Shivagami, and Anushka Shetty as Devasena.

"Baahubali" is being touted as an epic that narrates the story of two brothers.

The film is the most expensive ever produced in India till date, as it is being made with a budget of around ₹175 crore. The pre-release business, according to some reports, has already crossed the ₹100-crore mark.

Telugu Chalana Chitra Parirakshana Samithi has taken a very good decision for the survival of small movies. It is going to set up about 5000 mini digital theatres in Telangana and Ap.

The response to the meeting regarding this at Film Chamber has been overwhelming and about 999 applications were completed in just half an hour. Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao, the president of Telugu Chalana Chitra Parirakshana Samithi, is very happy with the response.

About the mini digital theatres, Srinivasa Rao said, "We are going to set up mini theatres with a seating capacity of 50 to 350 in areas of 1000 to 4000 sq.ft. It is very profitable both to small producers and also audiences. In current scenario, though their film releases, the producers are not getting profits because of the theatre rental and lease systems. Even if 30 percent of the theatre is filled, the producers have to pay for the rents. But in mini theatres, even if that 30 percent audiences come to the theatre, it will be very profitable. Audiences will also watch the films with their family members for low prices. The snacks and cool drinks in canteens will also be available at normal prices.Even if one mini digital theatre employs three people, about 1 lakh people will be employed. Five thousand people will turn theatre owners. This will encourage many to make more good films at low budgets. This in turn will give work to lakhs of workers, actors and technicians in the industry. We will reveal more details soon".

After decades of cultural imperialism and apparent discrimination by filmmakers belonging to Andhra region who ruled the roost in tinsel town, Telangana films are likely to get their own identity and dignity at last, if the State government’s latest move is anything to go by.  



It looks like the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government has finally woken up to the reality and is all set to protect Telangana cinema and its distinct identity. Hinting at this, the authorities spared a day for interaction with Telangana filmmakers to chalk out a road map to showcase the unique characteristics of Telugu films and to establish the unmatched glory of Telangana culture in silver screens.



According to Mamidi Harikrishna, Director, Telangana Department of Language and Culture, the department will be hosting a debate titled ‘Telangana Cinema-Ninna, Nedu, Repu’ with over 100 Telangana filmmakers on June 5 at Ravindra Bharathi to elicit views from film fraternity and present a report to the government to take steps to revive Telangana cinema.



Another top official, Desapati Srinivas, Officer on Special Duty, Chief Minister’s Office, along with a few other officials would be interacting with filmmakers from Telangana like Allani Sridhar, N Shankar, B Narasing Rao, Sana Yadi Reddy, Prem Raj and others for six hours from 9 am to 2 pm, which will be inaugurated by Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.



“Surely, it’s the first-ever debate between the government and Telangana filmmakers and we are hopeful of finding a blueprint to revive the past glory of Telangana cinema,” says writer-director Prem Raj, who is a key member in organising the meet. “We are going through a kind of identity crises, whether Telangana cinema is commercial or artistic. We will also discuss on the kind of support government can initiate to protect the interests of Telangana film fraternity in the new State,” adds Raj.



Like Marathi cinema, which survived the onslaught of Bollywood potboilers, with the support of the Maharashtra government, even Telangana filmmakers are looking for similar support mechanism to pave way for more Telangana-centric movies.



“The Maharashtra government offers a cash subsidy of Rs 45 lakhs for each Marathi film and also ensures screening of Marathi movies even in multiplexes, so we are looking for a similar kind of support to protect Telangana cinema from the onslaught of masala Telugu movies,” says Allani Sridhar, who feels that Telangana cinema has sustained its identity.



“Thanks to legendary filmmakers like B Narsing Rao, R Narayamurthy and others who fought hard to keep our flag flying, we want more Gen Y filmmakers to make Telangana-centric movies, but for that we need strong government backing ,”

he adds.

Super Star Mahesh Babu is all set to finish shooting for his upcoming release Srimanthudu and his next film to start shooting from July 10’ onwards would be Brahmotsavam. The film is being directed by Srikanth Addala and would be made as a clean gamily entertainer. Rakul Preet Singh and Praneetha would be seen opposite Mahesh in the film and the rest of the cast would be shortly announced.

This would be the second time that Mahesh would be acting in a movie directed with Srikanth, after the super success of their earlier film Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalley Chettu. Brahmotsavam would be made in both Tamil and Telugu and would be Mahesh’s first Tamil film. It’s being produced by Prasad Potluri of PVP cinema and is schedule to be released in Jan 2016. The film also stars famous Tamil actor Satyaraj.

Chukka Sattaiah (84), an ‘Oggu Katha’ (a folk art) exponent, stressed on the need for the government to focus on folk art forms in the state.

‘Oggu Katha’ is like a ballad depicting the chivalric deeds of ‘Veera Bhadra’ and ‘Mallikharjuna Swamy’ and ‘Renuka Yellamma’.

Sattaiah has been chosen for an award under the artistes category by the Telangana state government on the occasion of Telangana state first formation day.
“Though Oggu Katha is enjoying the patronage of the people, especially Yadava community, in the districts of Warangal, Karimnagar and Medak districts and other parts of the state, there is severe shortage of the instructors”, he said.

Due to this, the people of this generation are not imparted with proper training in Oggu Katha, said Chukka Sattaiah, who also worked as an instructor at the Department of Folk Arts at Potti Sriramulu Telugu University for two years.

However, Sattaiah, who has earned name and fame for his exceptional skills in narrating the stories in Oggu form, has urged the government to promote the folk arts forms including Oggu Katha in a big way to protect the Telangana culture.

Hailing from a remote village, Manikyapuram in Lingalaghanapuram mandal in the district, Sattaiah performed in almost  12,000 shows across the nation  in his 40- years long career. He filled the audience with awe across the country irrespective of their language and cultural background. He also received several national and state awards Kendriya Sangeet Natak Akademi award and also received  Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) from Kakatiya University.

Actor Puri Akash, who is making his acting debut in the forthcoming Telugu teenage love story “Andhra Pori”, says he always wished to be launched by his filmmaker-father Puri Jagannath, who didn’t quite agree with his son.

“I’ve always wished to be launched by my father. I wanted to be launched as a hero in one of his films. But he suggested that I do ‘Andhra Pori’ as he felt it suited my age and wanted me to experience everything on my own,” Akash told.

Without much hesitation, Akash took his father’s advice.
In “Andhra Pori”, a Telugu remake of Marathi hit “Time Pass”, Akash plays a Class 10 dropout.
“I had to pick up on Telangana accent. I essay a massy village dweller. To get my dialect right, I underwent a week-long workshop and it really helped me to champion the language,” he said.
Calling his film an “audience-friendly” teenage love story, Akash said the romance in the film is “clean”.

“The story is about two teenagers and their first crush. There’s romance but it’s not portrayed the way our cinema usually does. There’s innocence in the romance between the lead characters in the movie,” he said.

Akash says he’s not in a hurry to sign more films.
“Post ‘Andhra Pori’, I’ll take a few years break and complete my formal education; go to college and earn a degree. Then, I’ll decide on my future. I’ll take it slow,” he said.

The Spain schedule of Akhil Akkineni’s debut movie, directed by V.V.Vinayak, was wrapped up yesterday.
For a few days, there have been speculations that this film is titled as ‘Missile’. But Nithin, who is producing the film under Shreshth movies banner, confirmed that the title is not ‘Missile’. “Title of PRODUCTION A has nt been finalised yet..will reveal the title 1s its finalised..n no missile is not the title of the film..”, Nithin tweeted.
Sayesha Saigal paired opposite Akhil in this film. Veligonda Srinivas and Kona Venkat are working in the writing department. Anoop Rubens and Thaman are the music directors.

అవతార్‌లాంటి చిత్రాలకి కొన్ని విమర్శలు వచ్చాయి. అయినప్పటికీ ఆ చిత్రాన్ని వెండితెరపై చూసి తీరాల్సిందేనని ఎవరికి వారు ఫిక్స్‌ అయిపోయారు. అందుకే ఆ చిత్రం అంతటి రికార్డులని నెలకొల్పింది. అలాగే బాహుబలి చిత్రం ఎవరి అంచనాలని అందుకున్నా లేకున్నా బాక్సాఫీస్‌ని శాసించడం ఖాయంగా కనిపిస్తోంది. అందుకే ఈ చిత్రానికి వంద కోట్ల తక్కువ షేర్‌ రాదనే అంచనాలతో బయ్యర్లే దీనిపై ఎనభై అయిదు కోట్లు వెచ్చించారు. బాహుబలి ఎప్పుడు వస్తుందో క్లియర్‌గా తెలిస్తే దానికి కనీసం నెల రోజులైనా దూరం పాటించాలని నిర్మాతలంతా ఫిక్స్‌ అయిపోయారు. జులై, ఆగస్టులో రిలీజ్‌ ప్లాన్‌ చేసుకున్న వారందరి పరిస్థితి ఇలాగే ఉంది. బాహుబలిని ఒక్కరంటే ఒక్కరు కూడా తక్కువ అంచనా వేయడం లేదిప్పుడు.
